Blepharoplasty is defined as plastic surgery on the eyelids. It may be done to correct sagging eyelids, remove fatty bulges around the eyes, and eliminate hanging and excess skin from eyelids. Blepharoplasty may be defined as upper and lower eyelid surgery that improves abnormal function, reconstructs deformities, or enhances appearance, and it maybe reconstructive or cosmetic (aesthetic). Aesthetic blepharoplasty is performed to improve a patient’s appearance in the absence of any signs or symptoms of functional abnormalities. Blepharoplasty can correct drooping upper eyelids, excess skin of the upper and lower eyelids, puffiness of the upper or lower eyelids, blocked or reduced vision related to upper eyelid skin excess, improves impairs vision from eyelid ptosis, improves and smooths wrinkles around the eyes, no visible scarring, improves the appearance of eye bags and chronic fatigue. Cosmetic surgery is performed to reshape normal structures of the body to improve the patient’s appearance and self-esteem.
